This test bar mold has been precision-machined from cast iron using the latest Numerical Control techniques.  The bar design is specified by ASTM (B 108-806 standard specification for aluminum alloy permanent mold castings) and American National Standards Institute (H 3826).  Both of these specifications recommend the gating system for casting tension test specimens in cast iron molds.  It has also been proposed by the American Foundrymen’s Society to the International Standards Organization as the design to be used worldwide.
